Frances J., daughter of John and Eva (Sertick) Ures was born March 30, 1927, in Sacramento, California. She was baptized in the Catholic Faith in Sacramento and received her education in the Redding School Systems, graduating from Shasta Union High School in May of 1946. Following graduation Fran worked at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph Company in Redding, California. On January 11, 1953, she was united in marriage with Daniel Kirchhoff in Redding, California. The couple lived in Redding for one year before moving to their farm of rural Tripoli in 1954. On May 31, 1954, Fran was confirmed at St. Peter’s Evangelical and Reformed Church (now known as Faith United Church of Christ) in Tripoli. The couple worked alongside each other on the farm where Fran was very active for over forty years before retiring in 1993. Following Daniel’s death, Fran remained on the farm until moving to the Shell Rock Healthcare Center in 2014. She enjoyed socializing with the employees and residents during her time there. Fran was a long time member of Faith United Church of Christ where she was very active in the Women’s Fellowship and helped on the lunch committee. She was also a volunteer for the library and Tripoli Nursing & Rehab. Fran enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, going for walks, gardening, playing cards especially Schafkopf, but most especially Fran enjoyed spending time with her family and going to her grandchildren’s activities.

Fran is survived by her two children, David (Ruth) Kirchhoff of Tripoli and Pam (Mark) Condon of Windsor Heights; six grandchildren, Adam (Ashley) Kirchhoff of Austin, Minnesota, Krystal (Clayton) Liebau of Waverly, Lauren Condon of West Des Moines, Emily Condon of Ames, Bailey Kirchhoff of Tripoli and Julia Condon of Windsor Heights; five great-grandchildren, Nova Liebau, Kinley Kirchhoff, Gemma Kirchhoff, Benson Liebau, and Oliver Kirchhoff; and one brother Jack (Joan) Ures of Redding, California.

I enjoyed spending time with Fran at the Shell Rock nursing home while my father was there last summer into fall. We did art projects together and you may have seen the sun catchers on her window. My condolences to her family.

I am sad to see your Mother go. We had such good times together, birthday coffees and breakfasts, sitting in the gazebo on warm summer nights until the sun went down and talking on the phone every day. She will be missed. MK
